Why templates don't work

One of the main reasons content templates don't work is because they lack context.

It's just as hard to figure out what to put in the "fill in the blank" section as it is to write a post from scratch.

Knowing what was there originally allows us to get the sense of the content and how it was meant to be used. Yet, most templates don't share an example or a real-life application of the template being used.

The key to making templates work is to provide context of when, where, and why they should be used.

How to make templates work

To create templates that actually work, you need more information.

1. You need to see the original content.
2. You need to understand the objective of that content.
3. You need to understand WHEN and WHY this template should be used.
4. You need to know what info you need to complete the template.
5. And you need an example.
