Starting in 2022, Alex Hormozi took the internet by storm. in an already crowded space, all of a sudden, this guy was everywhere.
If you haven’t noticed you’ve been living and doing business under a rock.
Today I’m going to share how Alex’s $100 million dollar message was a key element in his rise to fame, and how you can apply the principles to your own business.
In a world where everyone was talking about how to make seven figures, Alex talked about making 9.
The $100 Million Dollar Man
Imagine you’re in a room, and everyone is talking about making 7 figures. They all have a unique way of doing it, and some may resonate with you more than others.
Imagine a guy walks in and talks about making 8 figures.
It would certainly get some attention.
But I think we can all agree that if someone came in talking about making 9 figures. Its big and polorizing enough that the message alone would get most peoples attention.
But, if that person doesn’t look like what our perception of someone making 9 figures looks like (a porn stache, wife beater, and flannel shirt) then it’s sure to get the attention of everyone.
Over time, as the message becomes more proven, even those skeptical cant ignore it.
And that’s what he did.
The fact is I dont think Alex would have anywhere near the success he’s had today if he started by talking about 8 figures.
Why it works
In archery there is a phrase:
“Aim small, miss small.”
How it applies here is that someone who has the experience of building an 9-figure business positions themselves to help everyone who is making less and connect themselves with almost anyone making more.
For people making less, even though who dont have the desire to make 9-figures, the message still resonates because they think:
”If this guy used this to make $100 million, then surly I could apply this and make $1 million or even $10 million.”
Alex’s $100 million dollar offer lands perfectly on the prolific message zone.
Crafting your perfect message
Honing in on your own message takes time, and iteration.
If you look at Alex’s early content you will see no mention of $100 Million dollar anything. He started by talking about helping gyms, then talked about advertising, then sales, then business development, etc.
The point is this…
He didn’t have the message figured out in the beginning. He came to the message over time by continuing to move forward, test ideas, iterate, and make adjustments based on feedback.
Its easier to move the wheel of a car when it’s in motion than when it’s sitting in your driveway.
In the beginning it will make less of a difference because its your message will be seen by the lowest amount of people. The beginning is the time to test.
Other examples of perfectly refined messages
Alex isn’t the only one who’s crafted a near perfect brand message using these principles.
Others like Justin Welsh and Andrew Gazdecki have absolutely nailed their message and are attracting people in troves as a result.
Take one look at Andrews Twitter profile to see 1000 + different ways he talks about startups.
Justin welsh has written more than 22,000 tweets and at least 70% of those are talking about soloprenership.
Conslusion
Over time, the message gets sharper, which attracts more.
Here are the key points:
A good message takes time and iteration.
Refine the message based on feedback.
Get as close to the prolific zone as possible.
Should go without saying (always be truthful).
