Facebook groups are dead.
I used to love being a part of Facebook groups, but over the past few years, I’ve discovered I simply no longer enjoy spending time on Facebook and don't feel good when I’m there.
For years, using free Facebook groups was a very good strategy to get clients and build relationships, but now there’s a better option with more powerful features.
It’s called Skool, and it was created by Sam Ovens and his team.
I’ve found Skool to be a more powerful tool than Facebook groups ever were, and today I’m going to share 5 ways you can use a Skool group to make money for your business.
A FREE Group:
Over the past few months, I’ve been working with some people who were using the Free Facebook group model to grow and then decided that because of the downfall and low engagement in those groups, they needed a new option.
They decided to go with the same strategy, using a free group to nurture leads, and found it to be so much more powerful than Facebook groups. To make this work you need a way to get hundreds or even thousands of people into a free group first.
Here are a few ways my clients have monetized their Free Skool Groups…
The Post Method:
This is where the admins of the group strategically pin important posts with an announcement, opportunity, or call-to-action at the top of the group as opportunities to work with them become available. I’ve personally seen several people make 6-figure sales in just a few days just because they had been providing value in their group for free, then pinning a post with an offer.
The Value Call Method:
Within Skool you can set up group calls in the calendar section. I’ve seen people do weekly value calls where they get on a call each week, teach, educate, provide value, answer questions, etc. Then make a light ask, basically just directing people to where they can go to get help and become a client. I’ve also seen people do a one-time “event” in their group and then pitch at the end after they’ve provided a lot of Free Value.
The Stealth Method:
Some people like to be more stealthy and low-key with their Monetization method. These people have decided to put links with light calls to action like “Whenever you’re ready here is a link to learn more about how we can help you with this:” They put these links in the About section, in course modules, in their events, and in their welcome messages and get people into their funnels on their own terms.
The Leaderboard Method:
This method leverages the gamification side of Skool to reward your most engaged members. With this method, people in your group who make the top 3 positions in the 30-day leaderboard win a FREE in-depth strategy session (no selling) at the end of that session, when they ask you how you can help them do this thing, then you schedule another call and share how they can work with you to implement the plan. I personally spend $9k on a service from this strategy.
The Welcome Method:
When people join your group, send them an automated welcome message. In the welcome message, you can start a conversation that leads into a sales opportunity, or in the welcome message you can put links of where they can learn more. Both work, just make sure it comes across as a welcome message and not a pitch.
How to apply this:
- Start a Skool group using the 14-day free trial
- Start creating valuable content in the group (a few posts at least)
- Invite your market into the group
- Choose which of the strategies you want to use to monetize
