The Only Three Funnels We're Using In 2023

Since the launch of ClickFunnels and Russell Brunson's obvious skill as a marketer, marketing funnels have become kind of a big deal...

The problem now is how complicated people have made them.

The more complex a funnel is, the more likely things will break and not work.

Over the past 12 years of scaling ads, I've noticed that the funnels that perform the best are also the most simple.

That's why I've decided to only use three very simple funnels for our companies this year.

Three simple funnels

There are really only a few basic funnels out there. Other marketers and experts have simply put their own twist on already existing funnels.

Over the years of scaling ads, I've found these three funnels work better than any other.

  1. Appointment Booking Funnels
  2. Video Sales Letter
  3. Free Group Community Funnel

Let's dive into each of these funnels and see why they work so well, whether you're just starting out or even at scale (spending more than $100k/ month on ads).

Appointment Booking Funnel

The simple appointment booking funnel is probably my favorite funnel of all time.

That's because nothing is more important than talking to your potential customers on the phone. It also scales well, with the constraint, of course, being how many salespeople you can hire.

However, when you have a proven sales process and a way to replicate it, this sales funnel is crazy scalable.

It's also flexible.

It can be used with paid ads and organic. Cold traffic and retargeting.

If you're spending money on ads, you can expect an average cost per appointment of $50-$150 per booked appointment.

It works well on some of the best ad platforms:

  • YouTube
  • Google
  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • Etc...

The funnel is easily scalable as you hire more salespeople. Depending on the industry and how many appointments each salesperson needs, you can do a lot of damage with $1,500-$3,000 per month in ad spend per salesperson.

This is especially the case if you combine organic like email marketing, youtube, AND hiring a setter to call people who have opted in but have yet to schedule an appointment.

I've personally scaled this single funnel to be able to spend $100,000 per month in ads with plenty of room to grow.

Video Sales Letter Funnel

The video sales letter funnel has gained popularity due to its heavy promotion by Sam Ovens in all of his courses and masterminds.

I love it because it provides a strong combination of lower-cost lead generation and high-quality sales appointments. It's also simple to create, operate, and scale.

With this funnel, you can expect to generate lower-cost leads and higher-cost appointments, but if done correctly, the appointments will be high enough quality to be worth it.

Leads from this funnel usually end up being $7-15 per lead, and appointments are typically $125-$200 per appointment.

You also need to make sure you have a good follow-up system in place to bring leads back to the video and convert leads into appointments.

Advertise this funnel using:

  • YouTube Ads
  • Facebook Ads

All in all, this funnel is a great combo of a way to build your email list and book qualified sales appointments.

It's also a great way to bring a small sales team (1-3 people) highly qualified appointments.

The Free Group / Community Funnel

When a company can use a free community (or group) around a topic of interest in their market, it can be a valuable tool for many reasons.

  1. It can give you valuable market feedback by what people are posting.
  2. Groups have a network effect where each member improves the experience for the other members.
  3. It can establish your brand as the authority on your topic and a go-to resource in your industry.
  4. It can serve as a platform for promoting new products or features to a relevant and engaged audience.
  5. It can be a source of user-generated content, such as product reviews and testimonials, which can be repurposed for marketing purposes.
  6. Etc...

Over the years, Facebook groups have become popular, but that's NOT what we're talking about here. The concept is similar, but the difference is the community.

This funnel is different because It combines two funnels that are simple and already proven to work.

Advertise this funnel using:

  • YouTube Ads
  • Facebook Ads
  • Instagram Ads

Overall, building and leveraging a free group or community can be an effective way to gather valuable market insights, establish your brand as an authority, and engage with your target audience. By fostering a community around your brand, you can build a warm list of highly engaged potential customers who are more likely to purchase from you.
